My Rimmel pick reviews.

I have never used a lot of Rimmel products and I’m not a regular buyer but as I was looking for a new lipstick and Kate Moss for Rimmel had the perfect shade.

kate lipstick

A peachy coral perfect for Summer and just the shade I was looking for! Only £5.49 this colour is number 32 and looks great with a tan.

Although it says lasting finish it doesn’t last long on the lips and definitely needs re-applying after having a drink. When using this lippy make sure you moisturise your lips as this tends to stick to the little dry patches.

It is good value but I will still be investing in a MAC version!

My next Rimmel pick is the ‘wake me up’ mascara. The honey smelling product is really light and separates the lashes perfectly.

The brush is not heavy and the product itself doesn’t clump. It’s £7.99 and if what you’re wanting to achieve is a natural fresh faced look then this is a winner!

Nip + Fab glycolic instant fix mask.

With all the hype surrounding the Nip + Fab skincare collection I thought I had to try at least one of the products everyone is raving about. From Kylie Jenner to Millie Mackintosh Nip + Fab skincare seems to be a must have in your bathrooms!

I thought I would try the Nip + Fab glycolic instant fix mask as it says it brightens the skin and shrinks the pores!

nip and fab

When I first used the mask it definitely made my skin feel tighter and smoother, however I have quite sensitive skin and I have found that if I use it more than once a week and use it straight away after getting out the shower my face breaks out in a horrible rash!

The glycolic and amino acid is very strong and leaves my face with a burning sensation and red blotches. After my face calms down my skin does look and feel really good but I would be aware if you have sensitive skin you might have a reaction at first. I would recommend using it once a week and using it an a few hours after having a shower or in the evenings. A little goes a long way in this case so thinly apply the gel and don’t be too generous!

It is available from Superdrug or Boots at £12.95 but look out for offers and both these stores regularly have deals on the range!

I am looking to try the other products in the Nip + Fab range so comment below with any of the  products you guys and girls recommend!

Mini Lush Haul.

Since my last post I’ve been extremely busy with exams and qualifying as a Journalist!! It has been a while but I promise you have my full attention now and the blog posts will be at least once a week!

Starting off this August it is of course a mini Lush haul! Previous readers will know that Lush cosmetics is one of my favourite brands and not just because of the sweet smelling bath bombs but also what they represent. They make their opinions known on the fox hunt ban and are now currently supporting the England hen harriers.

lush haul

The american cream conditioner smells like a vanilla milkshake blended with warm popcorn and as well as leaving my locks feeling soft it has tamed my curls during this humid weather period.

Seanik a must have for me in my bathroom, I have tried to many shampoo bars but this is the one that always has been running back. My old faithful. I have previously wrote a more detailed description of Seanik and how well it works so have a read if you want to know more!

I bought two bath bombs during this haul but got so excited when I got home I couldn’t resist using the Dragons Egg one. The second I bought was twilight a purple bath bomb with a cute star print! When it fizzles into the water a mix of purple and pink colours swirl around the water leaving you feeling like you are in a magical mermaid cave! There isn’t much of a smell and it doesn’t have any benefits to your skin. However there is a definitely a feel good factor which is good enough for me on a Friday night!

The lovely girls at Victoria Station Lush saw me glimpsing at the “Big” conditioner and watched me linger over it deciding if I should brave the price and try it out. They could clearly see that I was struggling to make the BIG decision and generously gave me a sample and boy I’m so glad they did! Not only was ‘big’ a big disappointment, but it left my hair feeling dry and bristly and clumped together in the strands. It was hard to break down into a smooth consistency and did really condition my hair at all. The jelly textured cube isn’t ideal for thick curly hair like mine and would benefit on thin hair that needs more fullness.

Herbalism is a facial exfoliator made from nettle, rosemary and almonds.  It smells earthy and has a paste texture which makes is perfect for applying to the skin. It is not too gritty and and did in fact get rid of the spots on the forehead! I had to remember not to use it too often because thats when my skin started to get irritated again!

Today Lush released their new summer collection! So no doubt I will reviewing another lush haul next week!!

Keep your eyes peeled!

Bits and bobs.

So this week I bought some new items that aren’t beauty related but I wanted to share with you. I also reviewed some of my beauty favourites which I consider to be must-haves!

sti ives apricot1

There has always been a large amount of hype around this product but after using it for a year now I can honestly say it is a great product! It smells lovely and really cleanses my pores. Leaving skin feel smooth and fresh it is definitely the best exfoliating product I have used so far! Another pro of this St Ives scrub is that is also comes in travel size!

If you ladies have any exfoliator that you recommend leave a comment below so I can try them out!

red lip lipstick swatch

Now a red lipstick is a must have for all ladies and is perfect for dressing up any outfit. This one in particular has been a staple in my bag for 3 years now because I love the shade “Cherry red”. This lip colour is from Natural Collection and is under a fiver! It is moisturising and long lasting and I don’t have to worry about losing it on a night out because of the cost! I’m just praying that they don’t discontinue this colour!

mermazinf

Now one of my purchases this week was this bag from H&M. You can’t really see in the picture but the blue scales are sparkly 🙂 H&M always have a stock of these bags in different colours and styles each season. They are only £1.99 and although they don’t last long they are perfect for carrying around make-up or accessories.

sandals

So in a couple of months I will be heading over to Morocco for a week in the sun. As I will be walking round the souks and markets I thought I would use this an excuse to buy some new sandals.

I spotted this in New look and for only £15! I had to buy to them. I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have them in brown as well but I will be keeping an eye out!

They are extremely comfy and I have been wearing them already because of the recent sunny weather we have had! I highly recommend these and so far they are my favourite holiday purchase!

stationary

As a Journalist it is natural for me to love stationary and there is nothing more satisfying then a fresh notebook with a cute cover!

The two on the left I bought from Paperchase at the weekend and at only £2.99 I jumped at the chance to grab these as I don’t have a Paperchase local to me.

The flamingo one is from Anzu stationary London, which I picked up in TK Max. All my friends know that I have a huge love for anything tropical so these notepads really suit my personality.

What’s even better is that they are all lined. Perfect for my shorthand.

Hair and Nails.

With summer fast approaching I went out to find my perfect nail colour and a shampoo that would tame my curly hair in heat!

Barry M speedy quick dry nail varnish in Pit stop.

bm nail nail polish bm

Excuse my stubby nails! I am trying to grow the longer but I do bite them!! If anyone has any tips for growing them please leave a comment!

So the colour is neutral which is perfect because I don’t really like wearing an overly bright colour on my nails. It is a lilac/grey colour and I think it is a pastel that can accompany any outfit.

As for the ‘speedy quick dry’ I wouldn’t say it is significantly much quicker when drying.

Overall I do like the colours in this range, most of them seem quite plain and pretty but not too offensive, so I will be purchasing a few more!

My next purchase was a shampoo bar from Lush. Now obviously I have spoke previously about how much I really enjoy using Lush products.

I have used a Lush shampoo bar before which was called copperhead.

This one is call Seanik.

seanik lush

It is made of seaweed, sea salt and lemon. All of Lush’s shampoo bars last up to 80 washes but this one in particular is amazing!! It lathers so quickly and smells great! My hair feels so soft after using it and it has a similar effect of sea salt spray afterwards because it controls your curls a little better.

The only downside is that some parts of my hair are a tiny bit frizzier but it is nothing a serum can’t tame.

Overall I would definitely recommend this! It has less chemicals in and I can’t really fault it! My new favourite!!

Buckley London.

Hello,

So a few days ago I was extremely lucky to be sent some beautiful one carat stud earrings from Buckley London.

Buckley London have won the UK best costume jewellery over four times and are well known for their jewelled poppy which has been worn by the Royal family!

The earrings:

buckley1

They came in this cute little mesh bag with the brand name printed across! The bag is really handy because you can use it to store the earrings and it’s perfect if you travel!

buckley2

The Cubic Zirconia studs are so sparkly and as they are so simply they will dress up any outfit. My sense of style is quite minimal so they compliment my outfits and are definitely a must have!

The great news is these earrings are only £25 on the site and the other Buckley products are just as affordable.

I will definitely be purchasing from Buckley in the near future so I can get a matching necklace!

Fellow bloggers and readers you can buy these stunning earrings here:

Enjoy 🙂

No. 7.

So this week I got a few new products sent to me from Boots, from the No.7 range.

First product I received was the High shine lip crayon in the shade delicate pink. The crayon is easy to apply and has a natural glossy finish. It tints the lips without leaving any sticky residue behind that you can sometimes get with lip-glosses.

Sometimes if you don’t feel like having a heavy lipstick or full lip coverage this is perfect and works like a lip balm.

Although the product is supposed to be moisturising it does leave your lips feeing a little dry after 10 minutes or so. But this product is long lasting and you can use a little vaseline to moisturise without affecting the colour.

The second product I received was the Natural Blush tint powder, in the shade delicate rose.

This powder is a really cute size and is perfect to carry around in your makeup bag. It looks sleek and sits on the cheeks well.

I do not normally wear rosy/pink blushes as my cheeks are quite rosy anyway! So I think in future I would purchase this in a coral as I like the consistency of the powder.

If you like natural spring day time looks, this blusher is great for you! It brightens the face and is long lasting which is important!

Lastly is the Intelligent Colour Bronzer. It has a mousse texture and comes in a little 30ml tube. It is really different to other bronzers I have used, this is because it is not heavy and it layers on the skin thinly.

On immediate application it looks dark but once it is blended it becomes lighter!

I use this on the bridge of my nose and my cheeks and it leaves you with a little sun-kissed look, it isn’t orange and leaves your face feeling smooth.

I really rate this product it  does the trick and can leave a glow to any skin colour. It can be blended easily over primer and on top add a little bronzing powder and it looks really nice!

Well done No.7!

Overall No.7 do really nice natural looking products that are suited to everyone. They don’t test on animals and their products are hypo-allergenic.

I’m really looking forward to trying more of their products!

Gee.
